This is my daily (I think, healthy) diet : can you think of ways to improve it?
OK, I've changed my diet in the past year to be more health-conscious, but wonder if there are other things to add to make it more healthy. On a typical day (today), I eat buckwheat noodles and sesame sprinklings plus cabbage for breakfast, kimchi and brown rice and canned tuna for lunch, 7 prunes plus dark chocolate and peanut wafers for a snack, and for dinner, a wee bit of buckwheat noodles plus cabbage/carrots/bean sprouts with a sesame sauce mixed with tumeric. Tried to add an apple, but being out of season, it tasted rotten...blegh. My one unhealthy indulgence was a canele de Bordeaux, a kind of mini-cake with eggs and beeswax and such. No sugar drinks, just 2 L of water and coffee and buckwheat tea (sounds gross, is actually delicious), plus peppermint tea and blackberry tea.
Anything missing, in your opinion? How can I eat healthier?
More variety, more leafy (very green) vegetables. Cabbage is not that nutritious, especially if it has been boiled.
More protein, and try fresh fish instead of canned. Add protein (like egg whites) to your breakfast.
I suspect that your indulgence of a cake came about 2 hours after the snack, because it was sugary, increased your insulin levels, the insulin quickly removed all that sugar and you felt a strong craving. try low GI snacks instead.
